The data recorded are generally those that appear on the cover of the file, supplemented, where necessary, by examination of the file contents.
In relation to the litigation files, the data collected are as follows:
- The parties (defendants and/or plaintiffs).
In criminal litigation, the defendant is particularly important; the plaintiff was mainly the office, in its role as public prosecutor. The injured party does not necessarily appear. In civil cases, the plaintiff prevails. - The subject matter of the dispute.
This data was treated as mandatory. The data was recorded even when not present on the cover. - Data relating to the procedure (mainly if any on the cover of the file).
By this we mean:
i. the court involved (Consular Court, District Court or Magistrate's Court; the Council)
ii. the dates of the hearing, date of the judgement.
The accompanying documentation, such as photographs, newspapers and pamphlets, is described.
