        A Sardinian Consulate had been established in Alexandria (Egypt) in 1825. (inventory available at https://archiviconsolari.it/regno-di-sardegna-consolato-generale-di-s-m-il-re-di-sardegna-in-alessandria-degitto).

        Following the unification of Italy, the Royal Consulate of Italy gradually assumed the functions previously exercised by the other consulates of the former Italian states.

        The Consulate General of Italy in Alexandria, Egypt, will close in December 2013.
