Scope and content

The rules governing the preservation of notarial deeds are laid down in the Consular Regulations of 1868, articles 205 et seq. Their application resulted in the creation of a substantial collection of deeds.

The structure of the collection follows the provisions of the Consular Regulations.

  • Article 205 requires that deeds be bound in chronological order and entered into the collection within 24 hours of receipt
  • Article 206 provides that all sheets, including blank ones, be numbered
  • Article 210 prescribes that a register of deeds be placed at the beginning of the minute book. The volumes contain the deeds in chronological order.
