The first, oldest segment, received from 1910 onwards through successive and fragmentary transfers without detailed transfer lists, is collected in 37 archival boxes. It reflects the administrative difficulties of the early years of the Italian consular office and the critical issues arising from the need to manage relations with a suddenly increased number of users/nationals.

The absence, at the time of transfer, of detailed lists of the documentation, together with repeated rearrangements—possibly also for study purposes—has undoubtedly had a negative impact on the readability of these records.

The papers, partially rearranged, may be subject to subsequent inventorying interventions.
