Authorisations to carry firearms for self-defence.
The authorisation contains:
- details of the request (date and applicant’s name);
- identification of the applicant with personal data (father’s and mother’s names; place and date of birth; domicile; profession);
- the weapon for which permission is requested;
- and the applicant’s physical description.
The authorisations, issued and signed by the consul on a pre-printed form, are valid for one year and are bound in volumes.
Permission to carry a weapon is provided for by Article 31 of the Public Security Law, Annex B, 20 March 1865 no. 2248 (administrative unification of the Kingdom of Italy).
The licence is provided for by Royal Decree of 30 June 1889 no. 6133 approving the definitive text of the Penal Code for the Kingdom (art. 466) and by the subsequent Public Security Law of 30 June 1889 no. 6144 (arts. 16–18).
The form of the firearms licence is set out in the implementing regulations approved by Royal Decree of 8 November 1889 no. 6517 (arts. 13–14).
